The third stop on our Italian Getaway was to the magical Italian Riviera. Al planned a stay in Cinque Terre, and it was as spectacular as you would imagine.
We stayed at he Hotel Al Terra di Mare, which is charming and picturesque. A family owned and ran in with a bed and breakfast vibe. Super, duper beautiful.
Cinque Terre means “The Five Lands” and is a portion of Italian coastline defined by five separate villages. As soon as we checked in and freshened up we headed to the most well known destination, the beaches of Monterossa.
And someone was on photog duty again…
But at least he looks good doing it…
I was too busy soaking up the sun, drinking wine, and munching on hot dogs (I was a bit Italian food-ed out at this point) to take many pics that first day. It was just too beautiful, I had to relax and soak it all up. Later when the sun started to go down we headed to the village of Vernazza. It was charming, colorful and had a fishing town kind of feel.
This night we had the best meal of the entire trip, as well as the cheapest. The freshest seafood food I’ve ever had on pizza and pasta. Nom. Nom. Nom.
While we were there, we ended up visiting all five of the villages, and hit the beach again.
I miss being in Cinque Terre so so so so so much, it’s probably my favoriite place I’ve ever traveled to. And I miss our friend, the resident dog of the hotel.
