There is no denying the iconic status of mid-century modern design, also known as “MCM ” won’t be disappearing anytime soon.

Both millennials and baby boomers have demonstrated that they are admirers of the design, praising its simplicity and usefulness.

However, what about Gen Z? What do you think is their disposition about this?

Gen Z or the “zoomers,” were born between 1996 and 2015 and may not initially appear to be overly familiar with MCM. Social media is seeing a rise in more lighthearted fashion trends which includes pastel colors and aesthetic designs. There is more to it than meets the eye, according to Gen Z designers.  

The Approach of Gen Z’s designer to MCM Styles

Despite being universally adored, MCM contains some features that are less appealing to Gen Z now. Although Gen Z designers also widely utilized mid-century modern styles, they still go for incorporated the trend of aesthetic styles rather than totally applying the MCM styles.

How Can MCM Attract Gen Z More Effectively?

Including more playful features can appeal to Gen Z’s preference for artistic settings. In Wackerman’s perspective, people should all have more fun with MCM, wherein the more whimsical and surprising objects put into an MCM setting the better it is.
